The November/December 2017 issue of eFMJ contained an article entitled “A Second Look at Smart Buildings” (the first look being an article by the same authors that appeared 16 months previously). Both articles emphasized the increasing digitation and analytics associated with building operations, maintenance and use. Facility management is rapidly moving towards truly intelligent buildings and we are increasingly understanding what this means and how smart buildings can contribute to improving sustainability and energy management. In this webinar, Eric Teicholz, John McGee and Erik Jaspers will discuss recent smart building developments that will not only ‘quantify’ the behavior of buildings but actually assist in providing data to the facility manager as to how buildings could respond to this operational information in order to make them more efficient and sustainable.
Topics to be covered include: 1. Current status, drivers and impediments 2. Core technologies (including Artificial Intelligence, analytics and device typologies) 3. Case studies and best practices 4. Implementation issues, technology trends, project coordination, management implications
