The Circular Economy: Our Time and Responsibility to Act.

The issuance of The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Sixth Assessment Report is an urgent call to IFMA members to take action in the built environment, where we can educate, inform and promote. The Circular Economy is one such very practical field of opportunity. Learn about the Circular Economy and the principles involved.

Sheila Sheridan will, through discussion with the panelists, provide a brief description of the Circular Economy and the principles involved and describe the call to action and ask for ideas as to what can be done to take action. This includes everything from creating a structure within IFMA to align and promote this cause across FM to specific ideas about the FM world and examples of what others are actively doing today to make a difference.

Moderator: Sheila Sheridan, IFMA

Fellow Panelists: Celeste Tell, Workplace Consultant, Advanced Workplace Associates, Ltd

Today, Tomorrow & Beyond – Waste Management

This panel explores a closed-loop, systemic approach to circular economic development and carbon neutrality. Unlike the linear economy, a circular economy preserves resources by extending the lifecycle of products in circulation and repurposing materials at end-of-life. In this way, a circular economy is a regenerative system. The panel provides practical case studies and explains how facility managers are positioned to develop components of circular systems in their buildings, campuses, and communities.
